Note from the Director
Research shows that parent involvement creates a more positive experience for children and helps children perform better when they are in school. Here at the ECC, we believe this is true. We have been working hard to plan some fun and engaging parent involvement events for this school year. Here are some of the things we have planned:
- The ECC PTO has planned a Trunk or Treat, scheduled for October 17th, and a Pirates and Princess Dance in February. They are also working to plan something for December.
- Each classroom will plan 1-2 family events that welcome families to come together. Ideas such as a field trip to the pumpkin patch, a gingerbread making party or a trip to the park are some of the ideas I have heard teachers planning.
- We will also have 2 building-wide parent events, one first semester and one second semester. More information will be coming home when plans have been finalized.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures
- Wait AT your car. During both drop-off and pick-up, it is helpful if you wait for your child AT your car.
- Keep conversations with teachers brief.
- Put down cell phones while at drop-off/pick-up.
- Watch traffic patrol staff for signals and directions.
NOTE: We share a driveway with our neighbors. Please help us be good neighbors and DO NOT block the driveways while waiting in line.

Letter Learning
However, this finding does not mean that letter name should be drilled into young children. There are far more effective and enjoyable ways for children to learn about letters. At home or out together, point out letters and words that are likely to be of special interest to your child. Try simple activities such as reading logos of favorite foods in stores, identifying street signs, writing grocery list together and playing with magnetic letters on refrigerator door was singing the alphabet song. Remember, children learn to play!
FREE Developmental Screening
Do you want your child to receive a developmental screening through PAT, but don't have time to bring your child in to the center? We can screen them while at school!
