A peek into
the JLC Class
THANK YOU JLC Families!
Miss Lisa and Miss Sammy are so grateful for all of the generous donations, gifts, delicious breakfast, and lunches that you all blessed us with for teacher appreciation week. What an amazing surprise!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Fairy Tale Land
Our classroom has officially transformed into fairy tale land! The children have spent the last couple of weeks creating a forest, mountain, beanstalk, and castle in the sky! Over the last weeks of school our class will continue to add details to our fairy tale land scenery. The children will spend one week per fairy tale and during each week, they will create costumes, props, and act out the fairy tales in their own words!
The 3 Little Pigs
Blocks Center
In blocks, the children use various blocks to represent the different materials the pigs used to construct their houses. They then can wear masks and act the story out together!
Dramatic Play
The children worked together to construct three interactive houses and fireplace/chimney to dramatize the story with!
Art Center
In art, the children used various mediums to create their own pig and wolf puppets, masks, and houses to aid in retelling and dramatizing the story!
Table Toys Center
The children worked together to create a "map" of the 3 pigs land to build each of the houses on. The children use various table toy blocks and materials to construct each of the houses along the path on the "map". Together, the children retell the story using small story telling figures!
Science Center
In science and sensory, the children observe characteristics of real pigs. They also use the various materials to construct the pigs houses including real wood/tree pieces, magna tiles for bricks, and straw/hay for a straw house!
Literacy Center
In literacy the children use the puppet theater and "milk carton" houses to retell and dramatize the story together! The children also have access to flannel board pieces and various versions of the story.
Piggy Pancakes
The children followed a picture recipe to create their very own piggy pancake snack!
