NU WOMEN BASKETBALL TEAM PLAYS IN NATIONAL STUDENT LEAGUE FINALS ROUND

NU Women Basketball Team plays in the National Student League finals round at NU Sports Center on December 11-14.

Tournament round features 8 best Almaty, Astana and Karagandy teams that will compete for National Championship. Schedules of games will be posted upon availability on our social pages: Facebook and Instagram.

ASTANA WOLVES FINISH 2015 CENTRAL ASIAN AMERICAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEASON

NU American Football Club founded an all-Astana Astana Wolves team in 2014. Group rapidly evolved into a city team with players both from NU and the wider community which finished innaugural 2015 Central Asian American Football League at 2nd spot.

Congratulations to the team, coaches and players!

Coached by volunteer coaches, and headed by Will Conway, team collaborated with other Kazakhstani enthusiasts to start a Central Asian American Football League in 2015.
Since March a league had 12 games in 3 different cities.

CAAFL member teams:
  1. Titans, KIMEP Almaty
  2. Astana Wolves, Nazarbayev University Astana
  3. Eagles, IT University Almaty
  4. Barsy, Bishkek, KYRGYZ REPUBLIC
  5. Black Lions, Temirtau (newcomer for 2016 season)

Astana Wolves season:
  1. Eagles 14-16 Wolves
  2. Titans 42-6 Wolves
  3. Wolves 12-26 Titans
  4. Wolves 22-26 Barsy
  5. Wolves 56-6 Eagles
  6. Barsy 12-36 Wolves


Astana Wolves sets ambitious goal of winning the League in 2016, so they prepare accordingly through friendly games (like vs Temirtau and Tchelyabinsk, RF), training camps by USA volunteer coaches and other activities.

NU MEN'S FOOTBALL BACK FROM NATIONAL STUDENT LEAGUE FINALS

2015 Astana Champions, NU Men's Football Team participated in the National Student League Finals Round in Almaty, November 16-19.
With 1 draw and 2 losses, NU team did not go through to Play-Offs.

NU CHESS TEAM WINS ASTANA UNIVERSIADE

NU Chess Team won Astana Universiade Chess Tournament on November 12.

Congratulations to our dominant chess masters!

NU won all its games on the way to championship. Team is now eligible for National Universiade Chess Championship.

2015 NU STAFF GAMES

NU hosted its first One University - One Team NU Staff Games for faculty and staff members of the University on Saturday, November 21.

We congratulate all the winners and participants of the 2015 One University - One Team NU Staff Games!

9 units competed in 4 different tournaments (basketball, football, volleyball and table tennis):

  5. NU Library and IT Services (4 teams)

  8. School of Science and Technology (4 teams)
  9. University Service Management (3 teams)


Sports Center, Department of Communications and Marketing are genuinely graceous for all the work the Organizing Committee members, schools and teams representatives, and our volunteers put in - THANK YOU!

NU FUTSAL LEAGUE

NU is a football town. Students, faculty and staff can all play in NU Futsal League's 3 divisions:
  • Division I: Students A League (211 players in 20 teams)
  • Division II: Students B League
  • Division III: Faculty & Staff League (92 players in 8 teams)


NUFL is ran in cooperation with students sports community in NU Student Government - Minister of Sports Murat Tleukhanov and one of the founders of the League, Alinur Mirassov supervise the league. All games are judged by a student Ref Committee consisting of 10 officials serving all games.


All information on teams, players, results and stats is available at www.imleagues.com. Anyone can join this helpful network.


NUFL action has now reached winter break and very few games will be played before 2016 starts.

WINTER BREAK AT SPORTS CENTER

NU Sports Center will be partially open for pick-up game sports, work-outs during January 1-10.

NO Sports Classes, Sports Clubs or Teams training during this period. Gyms will also be closed, including ones in residential facilities.

All Sports Center activities will be fully available for Spring 2016 semester starting January 11, 2016.
