Exploring the BHS Library
You are starting a new school year on a new campus. Welcome to high school! As a ninth grader, learning to use the BHS Library is important. Your goal is to explore the areas of the library, using technology to help you with your adventures. As teams, you will be given clues to solve the challenges you will face today. The librarians, Ms. Lanier and Mrs. Dixon, will be your guides on your adventure. Find them if you need help. Good luck!

Challenge #1 Library Tour
- There are two main zones or areas of the library, the talking area and the quiet area.
- Find the quiet zone of the library and take a picture of someone in your group following the expectations of this area of the library.

Challenge #1: Library Tour (Part 2)
- Find the Nonfiction area of the library.
- Nonfiction is organized by the Dewey Decimal System. See the table below for the categories.
- Take a team photo in front of your favorite category. See the table below for the categories.
- Find the Graphic Novels and the Popular Nonfiction bookshelves.
- Take a picture of a book someone in your group would like to read from one of these areas.
- Post your pictures to the class Padlet.
Challenge #2: Library Expectations
- No food or drinks in the library.
- Please leave chairs in place.
- You must sit somewhere, even if it's on the floor.
- The non-negotiables are part of the Library Social Contract for behavior (see the flyer by the stairs).
- Using Flipgrid https://flipgrid.com/y7032b , choose one of the library expectations or non-negotiables and video a member of your team explaining the reasons for it
Challenge #3: Card Catalog
- Open a new tab on your Chomebook and go the Bryant website.
- Under STUDENTS, and INFORMATION, find the DESTINY ONLINE CARD CATALOG.
- You will need to use the card catalog to complete the Booktrailer Challenge #4.
Challenge # 4: Book Trailers
- Watch 3 book trailers from the links below.
- Find the books on the card catalog and answer the questions below.
- Post your pictures and answers to the questions on Padlet.
- What do all of these books have in common?
- How many copies do we have?
- Who is the author?
- Find ONE of the books on the shelf and take a picture with it.

Challenge # 5: Book Spine Poetry
- Use the titles on the spines of the books, stack the books in such a way as to create a poem.
- Your poem must use 4-8 books. See the examples below!
- Take a picture of your stack and post to the Padlet.
- Once you have completed Challenges 1 through 5, find Mrs. Dixon or Ms. Lanier for your Clues to the Digital Breakout form.
