Mrs. Barton's Counselor Corner
Week 8
May 11-15, 2020
You are STRONG! When you have a challenge, one way to get through it is to think about another time you had to do something hard and overcame it. For example, the first time you learned to add or multiply might have been pretty tough. You may have had to practice over and over again before you finally got it. But if you put in the hard work, I bet you just got better and better. Then, you find out there is something called subtraction or division! Ugh!!!! If you remember that you worked really hard on the addition or multiplication and you got through it, that success can motivate you during other challenges.
In the video below, The Thing LOU Couldn't Do, Lou is super scared about climbing a tree with her friends. Around minute 2:52 Lou thinks about other hard things that she has done and that motivates her to try climbing the tree.
