Tiger Times
September 28, 2020
Murphy Families,
Happy Fall! In our sixth week of distance learning students are now in the swing of things. Our 6th grade and third-grade students just finished their first module in EL Education. Our kindergarten and first-grade students are learning foundational reading skills to ensure they are prepared for the rigorous skill of comprehending text. In Math, our Tigers are focused on grade-level standards to continue their path towards college and career readiness. Thank you for your support in making this all happen. Thank you to our parents, care providers, grandparents, aunties, uncles brothers and sisters. While we are not in school together our commitment to ensuring your students receive the highest level of education continues. Our methods may have changed, but our end goal has not. If you need any additional support or have concerns please reach out so we can work together towards a solution.
September 15th to October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America. The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period. Help us celebrate at Murphy by participating in a weekly activity with your family to learn and explore the Hispanic Culture. Hispanic Heritage Month Weekly Activities. Do you celebrate in a different way? Share your pictures on Facebook (Marie Murphy Wccusd) or Remind.
Monday, September 28th is the last day to sign up for Scientific Adventures for Girls. See the link below for the Extended Learning Program to see the schedule and sign up!
School lunch forms impact our school funding!
We need EVERY family to complete the school lunch form, regardless of income level or free and reduced-priced lunch status. These forms significantly impact WCCUSD’s funding. (English | Spanish).
Story Time with Mr. C
