Much Ado About Nothing
Character Comparison
Don John
The actor I would have play as Don John would be Heath Ledger. Ledger plays a great role in many movies but one of his movies that stand out as he plays the antagonist is "Batman" as he plays Joker. This would fit the character description of Don John perfectly who plays the the antagonist in "Much Ado About Nothing."
Benedick
I would choose Steve Carell as the character to play as Benedick. I chose Carell because he is funny, and smart with his words. That's why Carell would be a perfect match for Benedick.
Claudio
I believe that Tom Hanks when he was younger would be a great choice to play Claudio. In other movies, Hanks plays as a shy character, which would take place of the personality of Claudio. Also in Tom Hanks's movies, he is always a nice and kind character.
Three Biggest Events
1. The fake affair.
2. Publicly Benedick and Beatrice are known as lovers.
3. Claudio and Hero's engagement.
Fake Affair
A big moment in the play for "Much Ado About Nothing" was the fake affair set up by Don John. Don John tricked Claudio and Don Pedro that Hero had cheated on Claudio. This lead to Claudio accusing her of cheating on him and everything falling apart.
Publicly Benedick and Beatrice are known as lovers
During the most part of the play Benedick and Beatrice and been fighting witch each other. Later on in the play, Claudio, Don Pedro, and Leonato talk about how Beatrice likes Benedick. Benedick overhears this and believes it and he soon starts to like her back immediately once he hears the news. This helps show how Don Pedro is portrayed as a lonely character.
Claudio and Hero's Engagement
I believe that Claudio and Hero's engagement is one of the biggest events if not the biggest in the play. As they are set to be married the next week. This shows that Don Pedro was truly trying to help Claudio and not try and steal her from him. This shines light on Don Johns bad side as he will attempt to to ruin and prevent the marriage.
Theme: Jealousy
Song: Jessie's Girl
Rick Springfield - Jessie's Girl
I chose the song "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield because it perfectly relates to a certain part in the play. The part in the play where Claudio thinks that Don Pedro has stolen Hero's heart from him. The lyrics "I wish that I had Jessie's girl" portrays what Claudio was thinking while Don Pedro was talking to Hero. So I think this song perfectly fits the theme of jealousy.
