Aviation Technology Available to Theodore Students at Bryant Career Tech Center

Students in Theodore’s Industry Academy have the opportunity to take courses in the Aviation Technology Pathway at Bryant Career Technical Center (BCTC). Aviation Technology is a Dual Enrollment partnership with Coastal Alabama Community College (CACC). Students in the Pathway can take up to four classes at BCTC during the school day beginning sophomore year. By taking the dual enrollment courses, students receive high school credit for Career Technical Education courses as well as college credit for CACC’s Aviation Airframe and Powerplant Technology programs.

Beyond the four dual enrollment courses taught during the school day, students in the Aviation Technology Program can take two additional Aviation Technology classes in the evenings and during the summer. The evening courses are taught at CACC, and summer courses are taught by a CACC instructor at the Aviation Technology building at BCTC.

At Theodore High School, students submit Academy Pathway preference at the end of freshmen year when they prepare for course requests. If any students in grade 10-12 want to participate in the Aviation Pathway, they can see Mrs. Pippin to submit a Pathway change request. Admission into the Aviation Pathway is limited and not guaranteed.

Businesses Visit Theodore Engineering Students

One goal of the Engineering Academy is to introduce students to the world of engineering beyond the walls of the classroom by having engineering partners visit students at school and by traveling off-campus to participate in training and competitions. To reach this goal, Representatives from local engineering firms have recently visited the engineering students to discuss engineering concepts and skills as well as various career options in engineering. Recently, engineering students have attended drone training and competition.

Theodore Hosts 2023 Honor Band and Honor Choir

This year, Theodore High School hosted the Honor Band and Honor Choir practices and concerts. Honor Band and Honor Choir are composed of students selected based on performance and ability. For students to be selected, they must audition, and only a select few from the district are chosen. The best of the best from around Mobile County met at THS to practice together, and they performed in the THS auditorium. Bobcat Nation is proud to have had the opportunity to host these talented performers and their friends and families.
