The Musselwhite Memo
Happy Monday, AMS families! We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving break with those who matter most!
It is hard to believe that we are planning for the 2023-2024 school year! To begin this process, Aledo Middle School staff will be meeting with 6th and 7th graders on Monday, December 5. During this time, we will briefly discuss the course selection process, courses available, and elective choices for next school year. Also, on Monday, December 5, we would like to invite you to a Parent Meeting at Aledo Middle School in the Bearcat Den. The meeting for current 6th Grade parents will begin at 6:30 and the meeting for current 7th Grade parents will begin at 7:30. During this meeting, we will introduce you to the 2023-2024 Academic Planning Guide. I will also provide information on course offerings and our online course selection process. We will send more details regarding the parent meeting soon. For current 8th Graders, the Daniel Ninth Grade staff will be sending out information soon!
Congratulations to our leading Houses in points this week! Gratitude (Yellow House) is in 3rd, Courage (Pink House) is in 2nd, and Leadership (Green House) is in 1st. Awesome job!
As always, if you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Remember, be the difference and have a great Bearcat Day!

Positivity Project
Dear Families,
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Kindness. Kindness means you are generous to others and you are never too busy to help out. You enjoy doing good deeds for other people.
Kindness is grounded in the belief of a common humanity in which others are worthy of care, attention, affection, and compassion. Kind people think about the needs and feelings of other people, and then act to help those people. Kind people are selfless. That is why a true act of kindness is distinct from helping another person in order to simply gain something for yourself. An individual with the strength of kindness helps others because it's’ the right thing to do, not because they expect any reciprocal treatment or gain in reputation.
In addition to empathy and sympathy, the character strength of kindness is indicative of an individual’s moral reasoning capacity and level of social responsibility. That means people who develop kindness possess a strong personal ethical responsibility to care for other people. And, their acts of kindness towards others lead to additional acts of kindness by those who have been helped.
To practice and encourage the character strength of kindness with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you will watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions.
Have a wonderful week!
PRIZES NEEDED
We are collecting gift cards and small gifts (candles, lotions, anything really) to use as prizes for staff members! If you would like to donate, please drop them off in the front office! Thank you for supporting AMS!
Difference Makers and Community Champions
We are proud to celebrate our next round of Difference Makers and Community Champions!
Difference Makers are recognized for their contributions to our campus! Check out what their nominating teachers had to say!
6th Grade
Draco Olesko - Draco is one of the most helpful students at AMS. He is constantly seeking ways to help everybody in small ways, from offering snacks to passing students in the hall to helping clean the classroom without being asked. Everybody in the classroom knows that they can ask Draco for help with anything and he will be happy to assist.
Lily Freeman - She always has a smile and a friendly word for everyone. She's a ray of sunshine!
7th Grade
Grayson McNeal - Grayson shows kindness, daily, to his fellow students. He goes out of his way to help when needed.
Hailey Behrens - Hailey has an amazing heart. She is the first to raise her hand to participate and engage in class. She is the first to offer her service to help, a true servant leader. She is so patient, kind, and inclusive.
8th Grade
Kale Roberson - Kale is ALWAYS kind to his peers and me as the teacher. He has amazing leadership skills in that he is willing to lead by example and assist others withouyt anyone asking him to do so. In addition, he demonstrates his leadership skills every day in class and in the hallways by acknowledging others with a "hello", a "goodbye" or a "have a good day" with a genuine smile on his face.
Hailey Prigmore - Hailey stays after class EVERY day to help pick up. She patiently picks up all of the paper, pencils and trash WITHOUT being asked!
Community Champions are nominated for making a difference in our community!
Addison Ralph - Instead of gifts for her birthday, Addison asked friends and family support the Parker County Animal Shelter. Through this generosity, she was able to give around $500 to the organization.
Harper Harbuck - As part of NJAHS, Harper participated in the Stuard Fall Festival. A nominating family commented on her sweet spirit, creativity, and friendly nature while painting faces. Thank you Harper for representing AMS so well!

Bearcat Character of the Month
We are proud to honor Wyatt Dorsey as our Bearcat of Character! This month we are honoring Wyatt Dorsey. His teacher, Mrs. Kuhns, noted: "Wyatt is an outstanding individual. One of the things that I most admire about Wyatt is his determination to better himself in everyway possible. Wyatt is a leader in and outside of classroom. He leads by example, always doing what is right and never faulting. Those around him notice this and follow suit. I know that Wyatt will continue to achieve great things as he has already set himself up for success!"
Way to go, Wyatt!
Late Arrivals
Lunch Deliveries
In the event that you need to deliver lunch to your student, please follow the steps below:
- Please be sure that the lunch is clearly labeled with your student's first and last name.
- Upon entering AMS, please place your student's lunch in the bin assigned to your student's grade level lunch.
- The bins will be delivered at the start of each lunch period. Students will be responsible for getting their lunches from the bin.
Again, we request that you limit lunch deliveries when possible. Also, in order to limit distractions, we will not call students out of class to receive lunches.
Thank you for your help with this!
