Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is October 28-Nov. 1.
This year's theme is:
Send A Message, Be Drug Free
Horizon Students will have a daily activity in their class to support making healthy choices. Our goals is for students to think about how they could make healthy choices including healthy eating, exercise, and rest every day.
Parents: Help us "Send A Message" by having a healthy choices conversation with your children and ask about what they have learned each day.
We will have 2 dress up days:
Thursday, October 31st - Say Boo to Drugs (Halloween Costumes - send costume to school unless teacher notes otherwise)
Friday, November 1 - My Future is Bright without Drugs (Red clothes & sunglasses)

Independence Day for Independent Students
This is also a RED, WHITE, AND/OR BLUE DRESS UP DAY!
Of course, we always welcome parents on our campus. Jerome School District is committed to the safety of our students. Independence Day will run concurrently with some newly added district security measures. As a district, each school will require all adults on the school campus (inside and outside of the building) to check in to the main office with an official photo ID. The ID must include a picture of the adult checking in and their birthday (drivers license, passports, government issued ID's, etc...). If you choose to join your child on the playground, please check in with your ID at the office prior to entering the playground.
Another security measure added at Horizon is our safety vestibule which should be complete by the end of the month. While we know it will take a little extra time to check into the office, we hope you will see the value of the added security it provides.
On another note, if you would like to visit with a teacher, we encourage setting up a meeting with a teacher to ensure they can give you full focus and keep your student's information confidential.

Have a fabulous summer!

Meet The Principal
Welcome to Horizon Elementary School! I am excited to continue working with the amazing Horizon staff and eager to work and build strong partnerships with the families and students of our school. Learning should be fun and engaging. It is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors – teacher, students, and parents – are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges and curriculum goals in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.
I have been a member of the Jerome Community and worked for Jerome School District for 23 years. While in Jerome, I have had the opportunity to be a technology teacher and guidance counselor at Jerome Middle School and a guidance counselor, IOT teacher, and Work-Based Learning Coordinator at Jerome High School. My passion is children and watching them develop their individual skills while bringing out their inner genius. I have 4 children ranging in ages from 9-19 and being a parent is the most rewarding challenge ever.
I believe every student is entitled to an equal and individualized education. Building relationships and providing structure are essential to meet this goal. In addition to a focus on student achievement and positive relationships, it is particularly important to me to make sure you and your child feel safe at school. If you ever have a concern or question about a specific situation or procedure, please do not hesitate to stop in, call, or email me to discuss any concerns or ideas.
We look forward to building a partnership with the Horizon families this year.
