A VETERAN
It is the veteran, not the preacher, who has given you freedom of religion.
It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given you freedom of the press.
It is the veteran, not the poet, who has given you freedom of speech.
It is the veteran, not the protester, who has given you freedom to assemble.
It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who has given you the right to a fair trial.
It is the veteran, not the politician, who has given you the right to vote.
It is the veteran, not the professional athletes, who has given you the right to kneel in protest.
It is the veteran, who salutes the Flag, who serves under the Flag, whose coffin is draped by the Flag.
HJSD WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE VETERANS IN HAGERMAN AND AROUND THE WORLD FOR THEIR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY.

Superintentendents Message
HJSD Parents,
Nine weeks of instruction and P/T conferences have come to an end. I’d like to thank all the staff, parents, and students for their participation in these conferences. This is the best way to inform parents of the progress and commendable work the students are doing along with providing action plans for those who will benefit from additional support. On that note, parents, please be advised we are offering an after school tutoring program every other Wednesday from 3:45-4:45 pm. This will include a fifteen minute break with snacks, 45 minutes of intense intervention or enrichment, and transportation. Parents, thanks again for your support and trust in the Hagerman Joint School District. We are confident that all students will be successful if we work together as a team, build their self-esteem, and instill the ARRGH virtues that drive our purpose to produce Academic Achievers, Clear Communicators, Responsible Citizens, and Quality Producers. Our climate is a result of the virtues we instill with all Hagerman Pirate students, ARRGH!

HHS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT MEETING

Well we have made it past my first goal for the year.......Halloween. Starting the year out under the COVID circumstances I had in mind that I wanted to make it to Christmas. That idea quickly changed. I think I am working on a holiday goal marker for the high school and junior high. It goes something like this.......Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Presidents Day, Spring Break, and Graduation. These are small stepping stones that I hope can work as milestones for keeping our school open
I guess I first want to say thank you to our stake holders. This has already started out as a very unique year and I appreciate your patience and understanding. This has not been easy for any of us because of the protocols that are in place.....and they are changing weekly. I want you to know that the Superintendent and myself have daily meetings to discuss the direction of our schools. I also want you to know that our discussions always center around how we can keep our students coming to school. We value our students and their educational opportunities. Please feel free to contact either of us at anytime for any clarification of information.
Moving forward it is so important that our students get help at home. Parents, even if you do not understand the subject information, physically checking your students Google Classroom with them helps us help your students become successful. We want ALL students to succeed. It takes ALL of us to ensure that. If there are questions on what your students may not understand, encourage them to contact the instructor. I am also encouraging the parents to contact the instructors if there are questions. Working together WE can prepare our students for graduation and success. WE need you parents.
I would like to leave you with a quote from Bob Beauprez:
"Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students, and enthusiastic parents with high expectations."
Starting Wednesday, November 4, there will be tutoring EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY available after school for ALL students. There will be a bus available at 4:45 pm for students who attend tutoring. TUTORING WILL BE AVAILABLE EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY. Reminders will be sent out to students and parents for the weeks of tutoring. (Students are still allowed to stay after school will teachers outside of the Wednesday Tutoring Days. They will just need to make arrangements).
