DL Packet Materials for Quarter 3

Each elementary school will host a Digital Learning Packet Pickup on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 10:30-11:00am and again on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 9:00-9:30am to distribute materials for Quarter 3. Parents, please plan to attend one of these pickup events to receive the necessary materials for your student.

  • Students in grades K-3 will need to pick up packets for their content.
  • Students in grade 5 will need to pick up packets only for Social Studies.
  • Students in grades 4-5 may request packets for ELA and Mathematics, but all of these documents are available as writable PDFs in digital format. Please complete the Packet Request Form by Friday, December 11th, if you would like to request these copies rather than using the digital format.

Meet the Teacher Event for DL Students Returning to In Person Instruction

There will be a Meet the Teacher Event for those digital learning students who are returning to in person instruction on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 1:30-2:00pm. Please call your student's home school for more information.

DL Flipgrid Question of the Week

To create a social aspect for our digital learners, we are continuing the DL Flipgrid Question of the Week! All of the digital learning students and teachers have been connected to a special Flipgrid course where weekly topics will be posted to promote conversations and connections. This week's conversation asks, "What superpower would you like to have?" An email was sent to your child's email account with a link to this week's conversation. Please note, participation is strictly voluntary and not mandatory.

Young Georgia Authors

The Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition window is from November 2, 2020 through February 11, 2021. The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.

YGA does not provide a prompt to which students must respond or provide any other boundaries to their genre choice or creativity beyond a 1900-word maximum length. Entries may include:

  • Short Stories

  • Poetry

  • Essays/Literary Criticism/Analysis

  • Journalism

  • Academic/Research Reports

  • Personal Narratives

  • Any Other Original Student Writing

Your child is encouraged to submit an original piece of writing to the assistant principal at your home school by 5:00pm on Monday, February 1, 2021. Entries submitted by this date will be entered in the school level competition based on grade. Entries will be evaluated on expression of ideas, language use, and unique perspective/voice. Please contact your home school's Assistant Principal with any questions or concerns.
