Quarantine-O-Ween at DeSales
DeSales Students and Parents,
As committee chairs for DeSales’ annual Halloween Trunk or Treat Event, Katie and I are sad to inform you that due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions, DeSales will not host our Trunk or Treat event this year. Instead of Trunk or Treating, we are keeping with the spirit of Halloween by planning individual classroom Quarantine-O-Ween parties on Friday, October 30th. The parties will occur during your student’s respective lunch periods so that we may limit contact exposure. Current Lunch Monitors and your student’s teachers will supervise the parties. DeSales HSA is treating each classroom to donuts and a drink for our PreK classes, and pizza for K-8.
Halloween is all about pumpkins and costumes and we are planning some fun activities for our students. Our PreK through 5th grade classes will enjoy a pumpkin decorating craft to bring home, while our middle schoolers will compete in an ultimate costume contest with prizes for 1st and 2nd place.
FAQs:
May my child bring in treats for their classroom Halloween Party?
Students will not pass candy out to their classmates during their classroom parties. This is due to COVID concerns. Instead, our HSA is putting together individual treat bags. HSA volunteers will bring the treat bags to the classrooms at lunchtime on Friday, the 30th.
What should I do with the treats that I have already purchased. Can I donate to the event?
If parents have already purchased candy or non-candy treats, and if they would like to provide/donate those treats to DeSales, we will gladly accept them, and the treats will be added to the pool of treats that we are divvying up for the Goody bags. Friday the 23rd is the deadline for submission of any treats, and a bin will be set up in the main office. This is entirely optional. Many parents have reached out to the Halloween Committee with this question, so we wanted to let parents know the answer.
To our valued Halloween volunteers: Thank you for your willingness to help us with the event this year, but because of COVID restrictions, we are forced to limit our helpers. We currently need 3 volunteers on the day of the event to assist with the middle school lunch celebration. If you are Virtus Trained and available from 12:00 to 12:40pm on Friday, October 30th, please contact Marnie at marmo623@yahoo.com. TY!! It is our sincere hope that we may look forward to your renewed support next year as we will need a lot of help to make our next true Trunk or Treat a success in 2021.
We look forward to a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween celebration!
Thank you!
