From the Principal
Thank you to the families who participated in Virtual Bingo or had a chance to go to Woolly's for dinner and Bingo! The students had a great time playing and winning prizes! Thank you to all those local businesses who donated Bingo prizes!
We started off the month of March with Dr. Suess week and wrapping up our Race to Read event! Many special guests came into read to classrooms and we had fun dress up days! From January to March our students read a total of 3,827 books! Thank you to everyone for taking time to record your books.
I have enjoyed and will continue to get to know more of you and your students as the year goes! Please reach out to me with anything via e-mail or phone, I strive to make Hot Springs Elementary better and would love to hear from you!

Literacy Tip
Reading Focus: Vocabulary | Grade: K/3
Vocabulary plays an important role in your child’s reading journey. You can use everyday time to help improve your child’s vocabulary!
3 Steps to Build Vocabulary by The National Center on Improving Literacy.
1. Talk: Talk to your child about what you are doing during everyday tasks.
2. Answer: Answer questions about everyday activities.
3. Support: Provide your child with experiences to talk about. Going to the grocery store, the park, or taking a walk around the neighborhood.

Community Togetherness Evening
Hot Springs School District Community Togetherness Evening is scheduled for March 29th from 4-7 pm in the Bison Auditorium. EVERYONE is welcome!
Free pizza, prize giveaway’s and community sponsors who include Department of Social Services, Fall River Health, Behavior Management Systems, Hot Springs Veteran’s Association, Polish’d Salon, Body Bliss Massage Therapy and many more!
Kindergarten Registration Information
Preschool Registration Information
Preschool Registration is happening now for any student who is 4 years old. Screening will also be available for any child who is 3 years old. Registration and developmental screening will be held at the Hot Springs Elementary on March 26, 2021 from 8-11 & 12-4. Call the office at 605-745-4149 or fill out the form below to secure your spot. Appointments will take 1 hour. Bring a copy of the birth certificate and current immunization records.
Smarter Balance Information for grades 3-5
Below is a list of suggestions to prepare your child for the week of April 12 assessments:
- Make sure your student has ample amounts of sleep each night
- Eat a healthy and filling breakfast each morning
- Make sure your child is on time each day.
- Please do not schedule appointments during this time.
- Help your child visualize success.
- Keep a positive attitude about testing around your child and emphasize their ability to demonstrate what they have learned.
