Message From the Principal
Happy Spring Break!
It was a week to celebrate our fantastic "Shining Star" students and Ms. Cross, our awesome Social Worker! Thank you, Ms. Cross, for the important work you do every day on behalf of our children and families! We are so lucky to have you on our team!
We are also so lucky to have a "Shining Star" PTSA. If you have been in the front office, then you must have noticed the new decor. The front office is simply beautiful, and it speaks to our "people and culture." The PTSA recognizes that Elkins Pointe is a welcoming school, and now all who visit will see this by our first impression.
When we return from Spring Break, we will celebrate our Assistant Principals and our Assistant Administrator during National Assistant Principals' Week! I invite our parents and students to find creative ways to show AP Ida Ward, AP Ayo Richardson, AP Nancy Lahey, and AA Rawlings Johnson that we love and appreciate them.
It is my utmost wish that on Spring Break you enjoy your time off to rest, relax, and recharge with friends and family!
Have a safe and enjoyable break!

Bluegrass Visitor
Thank you to Orchestra teacher, Seth Gamba, for arranging for special guest Andy Reiner to visit and play. Andy Reiner is a fantastic bluegrass/rock fiddle player who tours nationally. He’s written music for us that all of our kids will be playing at the Spring concert on May 7th. It was very exciting to have him visit for a few days. Check out his video below.

THINGS TO KNOW
Georgia Milestones Info
The Georgia Milestones is a comprehensive, end-of-grade (EOG) assessment program given in middle school to grades 6-8. Georgia Milestones measures how well students have learned the knowledge and skills outlined in the state-adopted content standards in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The Georgia Milestones Assessments provide a measurement of student achievement: what they have learned and can do at the end of their grade level year (as described in the expectations stated in the Georgia Performance Standards). The primary purpose of Georgia Milestones is to improve student achievement by providing information that guides plans for improving teaching and learning.
What types of questions will be on the Georgia Milestones Assessments?
• Open-ended (constructed response) items in English Language Arts and math
• A writing component within the English Language Arts Assessments (in response to passages read by students)
• Nationally norm-referenced items to provide a national comparison, alongside criterion-referenced items
• Multiple choice items
Parents are our partners! Please see the links below for more information about Georgia.
