ELA Curriculum Sample Resources
From Dr. Kocar:
The K-5 ELA Materials review committee has reviewed materials from vendors since Spring 2018. If you recall, we had a vendor presentation last year from CKLA, but the feedback to the committee at that time indicated we should pause on the planned pilot and resume the materials review in fall 2018. As a result of this further review, the committee is recommending Into Reading from Houghton-Mifflin-Harcourt.
The committee invites you to join them for a vendor presentation and Q & A session on:
April 15, 2019
4:00p-5:30p (@negotiated paid hourly rate)
Red Rees PD Center
Please use this link to register: http://tinyurl.com/HMHApril15 (only those registered by end of the school day on April 10 will be guaranteed a grade-specific sample kit to take back to your building).
During the week of April 8, sample materials (1/grade level) will be on display at each K-4 elementary building; each grade 5 team will have one kit to review sent to the attention of the grade 5 ELA liaison. You can view the full grade level sample kits on display for public review in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction during normal business hours per the school district calendar through April 30.
Even if you cannot make the presentation on April 15, you can review the materials online using the resources in this Livebinder:

Vocabulary Instruction- Please share with me some of your practices so I can highlight them!
Our second-grade team is teaching Math Vocabulary intentionally. Grade 2 shared a resource they make for Math Content Vocabulary for each math unit with definitions and non-linguistic representations when possible. Thank you for sharing!
