PROCLAMATION 2024: New K-12 Science TEKS and Instructional Materials Adoption
SIGN UP TO REVIEW SCIENCE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
TEA now recruiting Proclamation 2024 State Review Panel (SRP) Members
K-12 Science Instructional materials submitted by publishers in response to Proclamation 2024 will be reviewed by State Review Panels (SRPs) - APPLY HERE- to determine the extent to which the materials meet the required TEKS and ELPS and to identify factual errors. At the completion of the review, the panels will report their findings to the commissioner of education. TEA will contract with a private entity to evaluate submitted instructional materials through the Texas Resource Review (TRR) using recently approved rubrics. The State Board of Education is scheduled to vote on Proclamation 2024 materials at the meeting in November 2023. Instructional materials adopted under this proclamation will be available beginning in the 2024-25 school year.
TEA PUBLISHES NEW TEKS SIDE BY SIDE DOCUMENTS
The Texas Education Agency developed resources to support districts transitioning to the new science standards during the 2024-2025 implementation. The full TEKS Guide will be released during the summer of 2024. The grade-level Side by Side TEKS documents (Grade 3 [page 1] example below) show the alignment between the 2021 TEKS and the 2017 TEKS. These documents will support educators transitioning to the newly adopted TEKS in 2024-2025. The K-12 vertical alignment documents show the alignment of concepts by topic. The standards have been organized into four broad scientific disciplines: biology, chemistry, earth and space science, and physics.
