Happy Spring! Or at least hopefully happy spring by spring break?
Spring has been slow to come this year. Hopefully we will begin to see the buds forming on trees soon. The quote above reminds me of how much our districts and spring have in common. I have learned so much from our districts as they try to deal with the constant litany of challenges while working to reinvent themselves so that they can provide the best possible education for the students they serve. I am constantly impressed by the grit and determination they show daily in their effort to grow. Their own processes have me constantly reflecting on how I can find new ways to assist in that growth. I hope that, as spring finally makes its arrival, you are able to find your own opportunities for renewal.
Time Tracker
If you have not done so already - please enter your data into e-time so that it is up-to-date.
MDE SI Process
I was working with MDE last week and found that the stance of MDE around the District Improvement Plan and requirements for School Improvement Plans may be shifting. It looks as though there may be a possibility of going back to requiring schools to submit their SIP. Hopefully we will be able to get MDE's process finalized soon so that the MI-CSI team can get feedback from the larger network prior to beginning the process of building roll-out tools.
Travel and Dues
Please begin considering requests for travel and dues for next year. You will not be submitting those requests yet, however I wanted to ensure that everyone is considering what they might be interested in in advance.
New Index Accountability System
Please take time to review the new index system that our school leadership is engaging with- an instructional video can be found here
Some Food For Thought.....
How important is it to receive the most timely and up to date information from MDE? If you are like me, it is a must.
By clicking the link below and adding your email, you can choose exactly the email communication you would like to receive. Don't worry if you have already added your email from a long time ago (Like me). The system will bring up the communications you had selected previously. You can then add or delete your previous choices.
I hope you find this helpful.
