Regarding this past Monday....
Due to the fact that Pearl Buck was closed on Monday, February 25, and the rest of the district was open, it is possible our students may need to make-up this day. At the present time, the District has decided to wait and see what happens during the remaining winter weeks. In the spring, once we know if there were any additional school closures due to inclement weather, the district will determine if there is a need to make-up any student days or adjust the school calendar.

Teddy Bear Day - March 6th.
Pearl Buck will be hosting a Teddy Bear Day on March 6th. Mrs. Miller's class is running a school-wide Teddy Bear Day. All money raised will go to Rosa's Pizza to help feed those in need. At Rosa's, people can prepay for a slice of pizza for the hungry. Those in need can come in and get a free slice so that they do not go hungry that day. The date of the Teddy Bear Day will be March 6th. Your child may bring in one or two teddy bears. The teddy bears have to be able to fit in a backpack. The price for admission is $1 per stuffed animal. Please allow your child to bring in a teddy bear or two*.

Magnets, Kitty Litter and other Interesting Things ....
The students in Mrs. Junod’s 2nd grade class sure know “How To” do a lot! Each student wrote up a step-by-step informational How To, then actually brought in the needed items to demonstrate to the class their particular task. Students enjoyed learning everything from building a magnet rocket ship, putting on make-up, cleaning kitty litter (um...well not ..well..y'know. Not THAT), and folding clothes like Marie Kondo. Future teachers are among us at Pearl Buck!
Volunteer Clearances
PTO Board Member Maureen Krom is offering free Notary services for any Buck parent who may need to have volunteer forms notarized. You can contact Mrs. Krom at maureen_krom@comcast.net.
Diversity Display
If you would be interested in contributing to the Diversity Display in our front lobby, please sign up below under the month that works best for you. Please contact Mrs. McGuigan at kmcguigan@neshaminy.org with any questions, or to arrange a time to deliver items.
We hope you'll consider supporting our display throughout the year!
Be Allergy Aware!
Due to varied allergy and dietary needs, please contact your child's teacher before sending in food or other items intended to be distributed to students in a classroom (e.g. birthday celebrations, class parties). Students should not share food at any time during school - even with a close friend. A seemingly harmless food item may unexpectedly contain allergens, or interact with other medical conditions. Depending on the health needs within a classroom, teachers may choose to avoid food-oriented experiences altogether. Please consider non-food treats as an alternative. Speak directly with your child's teacher. Do not send in any items until the teacher has responded and confirmed the appropriateness of your request. Thanks!
