Patriot's Pen
Week 28: April 1-5
A Message from Mireles
This week's faculty learning will include STAAR logistics and training. You only need to be in attendance for one of two training date options.
STAAR Faculty Learning: Tuesday 4-5pm
STAAR Faculty Learning: Wednesday 7:15am-8:15am
(Note: those who have already viewed the Vignettes may leave early)
Logistics will look differently then it has in the past, please be patient and open minded, we will be in "testing mode" for two full days.
Josh & Tara have been working tirelessly to create a "STAAR master schedule" that includes conference periods, teacher breaks and non-testing student options. The logistics of this isn't an easy task, so your helpful feedback is encouraged and appreciated.
STAAR = "all hands on deck"
Michelle Bunn & Billie Smith along with their PLC's have also worked to create lessons & activities to keep non-test takers busy during this time. Patti has assisted in multiple areas and Kim has worn many hats, to be sure we are in compliance.
Back packs will be discouraged on these days, phones will be picked up in testing rooms, left in lockers or at home as options and no lunch deliveries will be permitted. A call out to parents will begin at end of this week and the day before STAAR, announcements will be said throughout the end of this week reminding students of all things STAAR related.
We appreciate your support in helping all students know where to go and what to do.
After this first round of testing is completed, please don't hesitate to send your suggestions to Josh for possible adjustments to round two.
Admin and counselors will be meeting to debrief and make any needed corrections for May. This probably goes without saying but staff attendance for STAAR is required, absences during this time creates a great hindrance.
