Principal's Notes and Highlights
Happy Friday!
You can only watch so many nursery rhyme videos. We usually allow Calvin to watch part of a show as we settle in for the evening. The movie Sing was on Netflix and so we gave it a shot. I was hoping for something tolerable and found the movie to be very enjoyable. So much so, that I went ahead and finished it on my own after he went to bed. Yup, 35 year old male sitting on his couch, watching an animated film made for children. Oh how things have changed.
If you've seen the film, you know it's much more than animals in a singing contest. It's about believing in yourself, overcoming obstacles, and the importance of working hard to achieve your goals. Mrs. Biehle's class is focusing on recognizing themes in a story this week and thanks to her lesson, I feel pretty confident I'm on the right track.
I see our students in these characters. They are driven, creative, and innovative.
As we wrap up parent-teacher conferences, this movie reminded me how important our work is in helping our children find their "thing". The strong relationship between our staff and parents provides them the support to go after those goals. We have an incredible school community and project-based learning is a wonderful way to expose our students to many different experiences.
I not only enjoyed the movie, but walked away with even more of an appreciation for the great things happening at CSA Lincoln!
Updates and Highlights
- 123 people participated in Walk to School Day this morning! This is a new record!
- Thank you to the many parents who brought in goodies for our teachers this week!
- Just a reminder that I leave for Japan next Wednesday. Former BCSC administrator, Janice Montgomery, will be filling in for me next Wednesday and Thursday. There will not be a newsletter next week. I hope everyone has a restful Fall Break and I look forward to sharing details from the trip when I return.
Have a great weekend!

Linden Project Update
A big thank you to all of the students and families of CSA Lincoln! Through your hard work the school fundraiser was able to donate $5,000 to the Linden Project crowdgrant. This is an amazing donation that moves us closer to our goal But, we still need to raise $22,065 to reach our $32,000 goal and earn the match from IHCDA - so we still need your help!
Please share our crowdgrant information with everyone. Social media is a great way to get the message out to a large group quickly. To make it easy for you to share, just download the Linden Project photo below and use it in your Facebook and Instagram updates. We’ve included all the information you need, but we’d love it if you’d add a few words about why you think this is important.
Watch this space for weekly updates on our progress - and thank you for being the project’s biggest supporters!

CSA Choir Carwash
Has someone written "Wash Me" on your car? Have you parked under the bird's favorite tree? Did you drive by someone getting mud all over your car? Well, worry no more. The CSA Choir is selling e-washes for Crew Carwash during the entire month of October. You can buy as many as you want, and they never expire, so buy 12 so you can treat your car to a carwash each month. Half of the proceeds goes directly to the CSA Choir, so buying a $16 Works carwash gives the choir $8 or a regular carwash at $9 gives the choir $4.50. With Christmas coming up, buy carwashes for family and friends. The e-washes are good at all Crew Carwashes, so if you know someone in another city where there is a Crew Carwash, they are able to use them. Help support the CSA Choir by purchasing e-washes through Crew Carwash. Simply go to the following website starting on Sunday through the end of October:
