PCS School Council
If you are interested in serving on the PCS School Council, please either send Kerri Lyden, the PCS PTG President, an email at kerrilyden@yahoo.com or call her at 978-895-1275. After she has the list of interested people, PTG members will have to vote on exactly who will represent them (again this is a state rule).
If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Principal Menard.
A Note from Our Nurse
Dear Families,
We have come to the time of year to expect cold and flu symptoms. Some of these are unavoidable but there are several things you can do at home to help prevent illness and keep everyone feeling healthy. Here are some tips to remember:
WASH, WASH, WASH YOUR HANDS! This is still the best defense against illness. Encourage your children to wash, especially before meals, using soap and warm water. To ensure they are taking enough time to adequately kill germs, have them sing the ABC song while scrubbing.
Get plenty of rest. School age children should get 9-11 hours of sleep each night. Grownups should try to get 8 hours.
Drink lots of fluids and eat a balanced diet - especially breakfast! I'm seeing a lot of children with stomachaches and headaches due to hunger.
Dress appropriately for cold weather. Please help your child choose warm, comfortable clothing for school each day, including socks. We are still seeing children wearing shorts and some with no coats/jackets. Make sure they are wearing a coat, appropriate clothing and you may want to consider a hat and gloves as well. Even in cool weather (20° or above) students go outside for recess.
Unfortunately, even with the best care, many still get sick.
Please call if you have any questions regarding the school sickness policy. Keep in mind, if you are questioning your child’s illness, the best person for your child to see is their primary care as the school nurse cannot diagnose. If you have a change in address or phone number, remember to contact the school office. It is very important to be able to reach you in the event your child becomes ill at school. Have a safe and HEALTHY winter!
