Veterans Day Fundraiser
Dear Fellow Patriots,
Each year the students of Park 6 School District hold a fundraiser to support our veterans. Thank you so much for your amazing support last year. The name of Marine Corps Lance Corporal Rylee McCollum, who was KIA in Afghanistan, is now inscribed on the freedom memorial located in our Veterans Memorial Park. Old worn flags flown downtown
were properly retired and replaced with new American flags bought by our students. The
passion our students have for our fundraiser is making a difference in the lives of our veterans and helping to build community and patriotism in all our hearts
This year, MILITARY MOBILITY will be the recipient of the funds raised by our students the week of October, 10th-14th. MILITARY MOBILITY is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides off-road expeditions and resiliency training for veterans in need to reduce suicide and increase health and wellness. Their curriculum uses the rugged geographic landscape as a medium for the personal and professional challenges we face in life, and a fleet of 4WD vehicles for veterans to literally navigate and overcome obstacles. This experience provides massive opportunities for positive transformational growth. MILITARY MOBILITY is headquartered in Cody, Wyoming.
Our nation’s veterans have willingly given blood, sweat, and tears for this country. MILITARY MOBILITY will always be there to support them.
Two easy ways to help:
- Choose Military Mobility as your Amazon Smile beneficiary. This is at no cost to you; Amazon will donate a portion of their profits towards our our mission!
- Follow Military Mobility on Instagram & Facebook. This helps gain and maintain sponsorships that supply critical infrastructure needs.
Thank you for your consideration.
2nd Grade Swimming Lessons
Free swimming lessons are being offered by the Rec Center to 2nd graders October 11 through October 20; and November 7 through November 17, Mondays through Thursdays, unless otherwise noted. Class sizes are limited to 12 students per class. Due to class sizes and to maximize the time allowed for teaching swim classes, there are two different time slots; 3:40 to 4:10 p.m. and 4:15-4:45 p.m. Once both lessons are complete all children still in the pool will be directed to the locker rooms to change.
Rec Center registration forms and information about the swimming lessons were sent home in August, information about the lessons are also on the Sunset website at https://5il.co/1gta1 . Completed registration forms need to be returned to the Rec Center. A bus will transport students from Sunset School to the Rec Center, parents will pick up their student after the lesson. Parents must pick their student up at the Rec Center NO LATER than 5:00 p.m.
Make sure your student leaves home with their swimming clothes and a towel!
