We started week 4 with Galatians Chapter 2. (Copied here for your convenience.)



Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me. 2 I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those lwho seemed influential) the gospel that mI proclaim among the Gentiles, nin order to make sure I was not running or had not orun in vain. 3 But even Titus, who was with me, pwas not forced to be circumcised, though he was a Greek. 4 qYet because of false brothers secretly brought in—whorslipped in to spy out sour freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, tso that they might bring us into slavery—5 to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that uthe truth of the gospel might be preserved for you. 6 And from those vwho seemed to be influential (what they were makes no difference to me; wGod shows no partiality)—those, I say, who seemed influential xadded nothing to me. 7 On the contrary, when they saw that I had been yentrusted with zthe gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised 8 (for he who worked through Peter for his apostolic ministry to the circumcised worked also through me for mine to the Gentiles), 9 and when James and Cephas and John, vwho seemed to beapillars, perceived the bgrace that was given to me, they cgave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 10 Only, they asked us to remember the poor, dthe very thing I was eager to do.

Debate

We will be listening to each team's IAC next week. (Your 1AC should be no longer than 8 minutes.)

Government

We got a very good start on the outline of the Constitution. Your student should finish this at home and use that as their summary. The memorization of the preamble is coming up on Week 6 so if that has not been previously committed to memory, now is the time. Please make sure your student has a blank copy of the USA expansion map from the back of the guide along with colored pencils for class next week.

Exposition

We had a good discussion which was birthed out of our reading of "Red Badge of Courage". We had socratic circles and sought to answer the following questions:


Is it sin to flee in battle?

Should a government have the right to draft it's citizens?

Research

At the end of our discussion of Air we had a socratic circle to discuss what we can learn about God from what we have learned about air. Here is some of the content:


We need air to live and we need God to live

The ozone is like God. The ozone is needed to preserve our life but it also has the power to kill us.

The air can be polluted, just like teaching about God's word can be polluted.

Air is intricate and amazing but still under the curse.

Why did God create so many different gasses?

Why do plants need what could kill us?

What may not seem harmful at first can kill. Be careful what you breathe in!

It's quiz time!!!! Know your Verbs with all four principle parts and tense endings!

Math

We started our time by talking about the order of operations. Pretty elephants must dance after supper.


Mr. Ussatis and Mr. Reiland did a fantastic job of presenting their math problems in class. The self assessed, peers assessed, and I assessed and they picked one thing to work on for next time. Next week Miss Deutsch, and Mr. Prip are up first followed by Mr. Ussatis and Mr. Reiland. (The purpose of repeating the experience two weeks in a row is to give immediate opportunity to work on the skills that were sited in the previous week.)

A Moment of Worship

Starting week 6 we will start our day with a Song to launch our devotions. This will be largely student led and leaders will rotate. The leader (enboldened) must pick the song, and disseminate the needed music to their team members 1 week before. They will also provide the music to the TWO classes. (Bring 26 copies so moms can have a copy also)
