Message from Principal Masone

Dear Families:

It is unbelievable that we have reached the end of the 2021-2022 school year. It seems to have passed so quickly. There are so many wonderful memories from this year and we've tried to include a few of those in our newsletter. You can also see additional photos in the Youtube video link below for a fun video.

Today we bid farewell to our phenomenal fifth-graders. This crew has shown such wonderful leadership at MSES. We bid them a warm farewell as they begin their journey to middle school. If you need more information from Manitou Springs Middle School, please contact 719-685-2024. For all of our returning students, please expect to receive a letter in early August with your child's teacher. You can check the district website for the supply list for each grade level.

If you are a parent of a preschooler, let us know because we have a few opening for families who have preschoolers and reside in Manitou Springs. Please call us for more information at 719-685-2024.

Please check Lost and Found before Friday, June 3rd.Those warm jackets and coats will come in handy next winter.

With the guidance of Ms. Kanaga, our teacher for On Beyond, please check out our school newspaper from our very own fifth grade authors. Students offer some summer reading choices, how to address climate change and more.

At the close of this year, we wish a sincere farewell to our retirees, Ms. Loretta Roe and Mr. Steve Smith. Ms. Roe has served as a paraeducator at MSES for eight years and we have loved every minute of it. Mr. Steve Smith has been a kindergarten and second grade teacher and an interventionist here for 26 years! Both of these educators have new adventures in their future.

Again, I would like to thank each of you for allowing me to serve you and your children. Beginning my principal career during COVID was difficult and I am grateful that we weathered the challenges together. I can't think of another place I would rather be. Thank you for your love and support.

Warmly,

Maria
