Go above and beyond
Step up and take the lead
Yesterday, we also were able to record our band and chorus students performing for our Virtual 8th Grade Promotion. The students faces were telling as they beamed from ear to ear with pure joy to be able to perform live for the first time in over a year and a half.
It is nice to see our students being able to participate in Middle School activities together!
8th Grade Students
This is a unique opportunity offered to our 8th graders as they transition to JPS. Over the years many students have reported that they have struggled with the transition from middle school to high school. As a high school teacher in this district for over a decade I have witnessed this first hand. When moving to the high school, students have to learn skills of organization, study skills, reading strategies, and note-taking. Although these skills are introduced at the middle school students still require additional preparation for the high school. This course is best suited for those 8th graders who will be moving into accelerated and honors courses at JPS. Due to the pace, independence, and rigor experienced at the high school, this program will make a difference for them in September!
