Band Day 2015 - A SUCCESS!!!

WOW! The picture above is from Band Day 2015 - which includes the GBS Marching Band, Springman, Attea, OLPH, and Maple Bands, too! At this point, the kids were "shadowing" a high school musician as they marched the GBS show!

Next up, is preparing for the Homecoming Parade which will take place on Saturday, October 17th from 9 AM to Noon. More info to be sent out soon.

That being said, students should be working on playing AND memorizing our school fight song, "Go Springman Wildcats." Memorization assessments will take place during the week of October 12th - students can find a recording on Schoology to practice along with. Percussion DO NOT need to memorize the piece, but must be able to play the Snare and Bass drum parts along with the recording.

Hooked on Marching Band...

The University of Illinois Marching Illini will be performing with the St. Viator Marching Band on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th at Morris Field. Both Mrs. Nellis and Ms. Tatz are former members of the Marching Illini!

Any student that attends this event (and brings me a ticket to prove they were there), will receive 10 extra credit points!!!

You can find all the details by clicking HERE.

It's time to UPGRADE!!!

With the AMAZING growth in our program, I recommend that our students' equipment "grows", as well.

You can find the Springman Recommend Equipment list by clicking HERE.

Please note that the items marked with asterisks (***) are strongly encouraged. These items will make an enormous difference in the students' sound and their performance in an ensemble. Furthermore, this equipment can be used through high school and, often, beyond high school! The more students that "step-up" even ONE piece of equipment will help our ensembles to sound amazing!

If you are interested in upgrading your child's instrument, I recommend that you speak with a director AND a private teacher AND that you keep your child's current instrument as a back up.
