      Teachers absent from the Professional Learning Community Conference held on July 23, 2015, must attend the make-up conference scheduled for March 25, 2016. The PLC2 Conference – Session 2 will be held at Sullivan Middle School beginning at 8:00 AM. Attached is a draft of the conference agenda. This event is a mandatory work day for any teachers who missed the Professional Learning Community Conference on July 23, 2015. Requests for leave must be sent directly to the Superintendent’s Office for approval. Any participant required to attend but found absent from this event will be marked leave without pay. All participants must wear their ID badges to the Conference to register attendance.

      Jimmie Matthews Funds

      Please know that there are two funds being started to honor the life of Mr. Matthews. The one you heard about this week during our faculty meeting is an endowment that will go to an art student at Winthrop. You will be hearing about another fund through the Rock Hill School District Education Foundation. This fund is also an endowment and we will be allowing students to "give" if they like in a jar in the front office. The funds from the RHSDEF endowment will be used to fund a grant each year to a school district employee in Mr. Matthews name. More information will be coming home to students and in the enews this week.


      If you are absent and have access to Kelly Services you must log your absence as soon as you know you are out. This serves a dual purpose, it is how I keep up with absences daily and how subs get paid. Regardless of if you need a sub or not, your absence must be put into Kelly if you are in Kelly. Otherwise, I am putting these in manually and I make mistakes. I would hate for you to be docked a day or have it logged improperly.

      Related Arts

      Please do not hold students during related arts to complete make-up work or as punishment. Students are required by law to attend PE and are held accountable through the end of year accountability report that principals complete for the material and standards being taught in other related arts classrooms.

      Media Center News

      Did you know that the library is all about customer service and promoting a love of reading? Since our school has grown tremendously in the last years, please realize that it is a very active area of the school.

      *Before bringing your entire class to the library, please check ahead to make certain the time is convenient. If you would like to arrange a specific time each week, just email Mrs. Rutledge to get on the schedule.

      *Mrs. Rutledge is on the Monday rotation to provide a grade level additional hour of planning time. This is noted in Mrs. Kelsey's e-news each week.

      *Mrs. Rutledge also sees each kindergarten class for story time every other week. These classes are at 10:00 each day and also 12:10 on Tuesday.

      *If the library door is closed, Mrs. Rutledge is by herself and busy with a class.

      *If you would like a substitute to bring your class to the library, please check with Mrs. Rutledge beforehand. Often, two classes end up in the library together which is just too many students!

      *If you intend to bring your class to the media center later in the day, it is helpful to send the library books beforehand. Sending the books earlier, prevents crowding at the circulation desk.

      *Please ask if you need books or materials for your classroom. I will be happy to find them and send them to you!


      Teacher supply money and all grant money received should be spent prior to leaving for Spring Break. Please see Jo Ann for your balance.

      Teacher Survey Ebinport BEDS Code is: 4603023

      The online teacher survey will be open on Monday, March 7 and the site will be closed on April 7. Teachers can conduct their survey online over the internet from the State Department of Education website, located at: http://ed.sc.gov/. This year, the teacher survey still has the same questions as last year. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Teachers can access the survey at the SDE homepage by clicking the link for Teacher Opinion Survey link under Hot Topics. They must first enter their school identification number (also known as the BEDS CODE or SIDN) and click START to begin. School name will appear in the upper left corner of each screen. If the school name appearing on the survey form is not the right school, exit the survey and reenter the school identification number. Please understand there is a timeline for completing the teacher survey online. The portal opened on March 7 and closes on April 7.
