RMS Wildcat Weekly
February 28, 2020 Information for our Families
Happy Friday!
First, we have a great number of students to celebrate this week! This morning we awarded certificates for Academic Excellence to 37 Wildcats for achieving 4.0 GPA first semester and 51 students for achieving Academic Achievement GPA of 3.8-3.99! We also recognized 50 students as Wildcats of the Month for demonstrating Creativity. Next week we will distribute Academic Recognition certificates to 134 students for achieving 3.2-3.79 GPA for first semester. Congratulations to these hard-working Wildcats!
We also want to congratulate our wonderful Concert Band and Wildcat Band for their excellent music at this week's Pre-Festival Concert! It was such a joy to celebrate their progress, and we wish them the best at next week's Festival performances! Thank you, Mr. Anderson, for your leadership of our fine program!

Some families are not receiving the scheduled Weekly Progress Reports from Aeries. Sorry for the inconvenience. We are working with Aeries to identify the reason this is happening and we are hoping to have a permanent solution soon. For now, to receive a progress report you must log into Aeries and click the drop down on the top right. Then select “Parent Notification Preferences” there should be a “Send Now” button. Maybe set an alarm on your phone every Friday at lunch to log in and follow this process.
Congratulations to RMS Wildcat Isaac Robinson!
Congratulations to 8th grade RMS Wildcat Isaac Robinson for being one of the winners in the "Banners Over Vista" competition! His artwork based on the competition theme "Shop" was selected and will be enlarged to banner size and hung in downtown Vista! Thank you also to his fabulous art teacher, Ms. Brayshaw, for her guidance!
Artful Learning Highlights!
In Mrs. Graf's 8th Grade ELA, students have been reading books about heroes during the Holocaust. In order to make a personal connection to the literature, they created a cube mural project. Students designed the left side of the cube as a reflection of themselves, and the right side of the cube as a reflection of one of the themes they have been reading about. These three cubes represent the themes of "Growing up Fast", "Courage", and "Being a Prisoner."

PAWS of the Month: Creativity
Creativity is the use of imagination or original ideas. Roosevelt students do creative things everyday! We should all remind our students to think creatively inside and outside of the classroom. They will be more productive and have more fun!
Reminders
Do you want to really know how school is going? To see your child’s grades in real time, please sign up for Weekly Aeries Progress Reports. Click here to learn how.
Would you like to receive school information via text messages? To sign up click here.
Attendance: Attendance is key to student success! Please encourage your student to attend school everyday and arrive on time. Remember, absences must be cleared within 72 hours (3 school days) after student returns to school. We also appreciate when you schedule dental/doctor appointments outside of the school day to avoid instruction interruptions. Parents if you are planning a trip in which your student will miss 5 or more school days, please notify the attendance two weeks in advance to set up an independent study contract.
School Safety: Parents, please remind your students to use the crosswalk when arriving or leaving school. The heavy traffic makes it unsafe for students because drivers may not see them as they cross the street.
Health Office: Parents of 6th grade students: The Tdap vaccine is required to start the 7th grade. Reminders will be sent home monthly. Please turn in updated immunization records to the health Office. Please call the Health Office if you have any questions.
If you notice that your student could use a little extra help, our B.L.A.S.T. (Boost Learning
After School Tutoring) is now open! B.L.A.S.T. aims to help students succeed in their classes in a fun and supportive environment after school. There is a maximum of 35 students allowed per classroom, so come on over after school before spots will up! Tutoring takes place 3:15pm - 4:15pm. Click here to take a look at the BLAST schedule.
