Dayton Consolidated Weekly Update
February 10, 2022
Hello Dayton Consolidated Families!
During February, our school, along with schools across Maine, are promoting literacy through the ReadtoME Challenge. We encourage families to read to/with a child for at least 15 minutes. Snap a photo or short video (15-30 seconds) and post to our Dayton School Facebook page with your challenge to others to read aloud for 15 minutes to a child they know. Use hashtags #ReadtoME or #ReadaloudME and tag others.
We are beginning to gather information for our new incoming students. If you have a child or know of a child who will be starting PreK or new to Kindergarten, please reach out to our office to gather more information.
Wishing you all the best.
Kim Sampietro
Principal

Mrs. Shaw, where are you originally from?
Presque Isle, Maine
What other jobs have you had besides working at Dayton Consolidated School?
I was an Orthodontic Assistant for 16yrs and then a substitute teacher for eight before joining DCS.
How long have you worked at DCS?
I am currently in my third year.
What do you enjoy doing during your time away from DCS?
Spending time with my family and our one-year-old black lab, Remy, going to sporting events (Go Sox's), traveling, and being at the beach.
What are your responsibilities at DCS?
I am an Ed. Tech in the pre-K classroom. I work with students in groups for small groups and centers. I also do many one-on-one with students to help master/recognize their alphabet, numbers, name, colors and shapes. Nurse Jen and I are the SunShine Committee and we enjoy putting smiles on our great staff faces and feeding them with yummy treats.
Thank you Mrs. Shaw for your service to DCS!
