Whew!! We can't believe it's May already! Only a few more weeks and summer will be upon us.

Book donations needed!!!!

Would you like to help a child read this summer? If so, then please send in any new or gently used books that you’d like to donate. We are hoping to send a book and suggested reading list home with every child this summer. We’ll also need volunteers to help sort the books into grade levels. If you’d like to help with that process, please contact our Literacy Coach, Jen Neal, at

What awesome things happened this past week at STES???

Recycling and innovating on Earth Day. Mrs. Aguado's class worked with recycling materials to create new objects.

Yankee Candle Sales....

We are anticipating the orders to be delivered in time for Mother's Day deliveries. We will keep you informed of when they arrive and how they will be be distributed.

Spring Picture / Class photos / 5th grade class photos

Pictures were delivered to students this past week. We would like to have all monies/returned photos by this Friday, May 6th to the school. Thank you in advance for helping us out by meeting this deadline.

Flat Sam project

If you or your family has participated in the Flat Sam project for the Diplomats, please remind them to send their pictures to Mrs. Helt at so we can post his travels. He has made his way to CA, OH, SC, KS, DC and is even on his way to summer Hawaii as we speak. Very exciting to see his adventures as we receive the pictures. Here is one from his recent trip to visit a friend of Mrs. Helt's in Oceanside, CA. Sam was getting to hang out with the Ospreys on Camp Pendleton for the day!

Yearbook sales - paperwork was sent home with all Patriots

All students are going to be receiving a yearbook with their name and picture on the cover on/near May 2nd. Similar to the picture packets, if you choose to keep the yearbook, simply send in a check for $17. If you do not choose to keep the yearbook, send it back in with your Patriot. There will be information shared if you would like to order an additional yearbooks or pay online closer to that date. Please do not send any money for the yearbooks until they are sent home.

Literacy Night update

Literacy Night is fast approaching Patriots!!!! May 9th from 6-7 after our PTO meeting which will be at 5:30. There will be many different activities going on around the building to include snacks for sale and raffle basket drawings. Look at these amazing baskets you can win!!!

· Free movie screen and projector rental with popcorn concession from Kid Jamz Entertainment to have your own movie screening party!

Basket 8: Capture Your Memories!

· Free 30 minute photo session from Stacy Jonnette Photography to include a CD with 10 edited prints

We are very excited to have this event this year. Can't wait to see the halls buzzing with families excited about Literacy!
