Welcome to the 2018 - 2019 School Year
This special summer update is our back to school special. (Newsletters will resume the Sunday evening before school starts). All the information you will need to get the school year off to a successful start can be found in this newsletter and the included links. We have created an online back to school resources page (see the article below) where you can find all of the vital information for the upcoming school year.

Back to School Resources
The James Hubert Blake High School Back to School Resources Page is now online. You can visit this page throughout the rest of the summer to stay up to date on our plans for the upcoming school year. This page includes the information you are receiving today plus a great deal more. While this page is almost complete, we will be adding additional items as we get closer to the start of the school year.
Information for New Families
We are proud to announce opportunities for our new students and parents of 9th graders to get to know James Hubert Blake High School. Please note the two opportunities below.
- What: An opportunity for incoming 9th graders, and students who are new to the school to get to see the school, meet staff, learn about Blake, and meet their new classmates.
- Who: First time 9th graders and students new to Blake
- When: Thursday, August 30th, 7:45 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.
- How: Students should come to school using the method they will during the school year. Buses will run at the regular pick up times and will run home after the day is over.
Incoming 9th Grade Parent meeting
- Thursday, August 30, 2018- 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
- 9th grade parents are invited to attend and learn about the 9th grade year as well as high school life at Blake HS.
Students- Parents- What are your hopes for this year?
James Hubert Blake High School strives to be a school that is open, welcoming, and supportive of all of our students and families. To help us in our work we would love to hear from you. We are inviting our students and our parents to take some time and share your hopes for the 2018 - 2019 school year with us using our Flipgrid. We will use this information to help guide our school improvement work and measure our progress throughout the school year. Students and parents must use their student's mcpsmd.net email to log in to access this service.

Fall Athletics
Fall sports are scheduled to begin August 8th. Students who wish to participate should visit the information page here to make sure they have all of the information and paperwork needed. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Jared Fribush, James Hubert Blake High School Athletic Director.
Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours
All students are required to obtain 75 hours of student service learning time to graduate. Seniors- please be sure you get this done as soon as possible. Please note that Montgomery County Public Schools has changed the dates for submitting SSL forms. Please click here to see more information about student service learning hours. You can contact Ms. Conter in the counseling office if you have any questions or concerns about Student Service Learning.
