Senior Update - April 27, 2021
A Message from Mrs. Boortz for Our Class of 2021
The Senior Sunset is from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, April 30th on the DTSOI campus. We will have a dunk tank, inflatables, crafts, dancing, and of course food. There is no charge for the event. Students should wear a white t-shirt for the color war and enter through the east side of the building.
Below is a list of senior events:
- Senior Spirit Week - April 26 - April 30, 2021
- Last day for seniors in good standing - April 30, 2021
- Senior Sunset - April 30th, 6-9 p.m.
- Senior Scholarship Recognition - May 14, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. (limit 4 guests, no ticket required)
- Senior Breakfast - May, 14, 2021, 10:00 a.m. (Cords & 6 Graduation Tickets issued per student)
- Graduation Practice - May 14, 2021, 11:30 a.m. (Required)
- Senior Elementary Walks - May 14th @ 1:00 p.m. at the elementary school the student attended (optional)
- Graduation - May 16, 2021

Updates and Reminders
- The fee for cords has been waived. If you paid for your student's cords you will be receiving a reimbursement.
- Face to face and blended seniors who have more than 8 unexcused absences in any class have been notified to attend that class to makeup any unexcused absence(s) over 8 the week of May 3-7.
- Students will be turning in their Chromebook Wednesday through Friday of this week. Any fees associated with Chromebook damages or lost charger must be paid by Friday, May 7, 2021.
- All textbooks and library books must be returned this week, April 26 - April 30, 2021 (unless you are taking an AP exam).
- For the health and safety of our senior class, the Senior Sunset and Senior Breakfast is limited to senior students only. Supervision will be provided by DTSOI staff.
- Students who are enrolled in college and/or AP classes will be expected to come DTSOI campus to take their finals or AP test.
Information for the Graduate
Graduate Arrival
- Arrive one hour before your ceremony (either 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.)
- Arrive in Cap and Gown, ready to walk
- Report to the East Entrance (park in the north lot behind the cafeteria)
Graduate Dress
All students will graduate with their graduation gown fully zipped and may unzip after the ceremony after they have exited the performing arts center.
Gentlemen
Dress shirt - must have a collar. No specific color, but keep in mind the color of your gown.
Tie - clip-on, knot, or bow tie. NO bolo’s
Dark, dress pants - dark brown/blue or black. NO khakis or denim.
Dark socks - you don’t want white socks sticking out between your shoes and pants!
Dress shoes required. NO boat shoes, Sperrys, Chacos, or athletic shoe of any kind.
Nothing can be worn on the outside of the gown, including jewelry of any kind, other than cords.
Ladies
Dress - can be sleeveless or off the shoulder. Avoid long dresses; they get tangled up with gown.
Dark, dress pants - dark brown/blue or black. NO khakis, denim, or leggings.
Dress shoes - You may wear heels, but remember you will be walking across the stage. Open toed shoes or dressy sandals are allowed.

Students, following items will not be allowed in the DTSOI Performing Arts Center according to the contracted rules/regulations of Springdale Public Schools at graduation:
Cell phones - you may not carry them in your pocket or anywhere else
Purses - leave them in your car.

Balloons
Noise makers
Streamers
*For the health and safety of our seniors, students will not be allowed to throw their caps at the conclusion of the graduation ceremony.
Information for Graduation Ceremony Guests
- Each student will receive six tickets for guests
- The actual tickets will be issued on May 14, 2021 at the senior breakfast
- Tickets are non-transferrable
Please do not bring the following items into the Performing Arts Center

Noise makers
Streamers
Day of Ceremony
- Park in the south parking lot
- Guests report to the Performing Arts Center to the Check-In Station
- Tickets required for entry
- All parties who are planning to sit together for a student must be present before the group will be seated for the ceremony
