The Buzz at Westbrook School

From the Principal...

Dear Westbrook Families,

Thank you to the Westbrook PTO for sponsoring the Kindergarten Art and Music field trip. Kindergarteners were so excited to go to the art room and visit Mrs. Meyers for a special painting project and visit our music teacher, Ms. Clarke to learn some new songs. Kindergarteners learned art and music room expectations and were able to explore the rooms they will enjoy in first grade. A fun time was had by all!

We are so lucky to have our wonderful social worker, Mrs. Ryno, at Westbrook School. We celebrated social worker appreciation day on Tuesday, March 21st. Please join me in thanking Mrs. Ryno (LRyno@d57.org) for all she does to support Westbrook students.

We wish everyone a happy and restful spring break. We look forward to seeing our students back at Westbrook the week of April 3rd. There will be no school on Friday, April 7th.

Kindness Club

We are thrilled to announce that our third and final session

of Kindness Club was an amazing success!

Our kind first graders made personalized t-shirts of their vision of what kind is in an effort to spread kindness throughout our community.

We also organized a food drive. Our sweet students made posters to help remind classmates to bring in non-perishable food for donation. We collected 289 cans and 147 boxed food items! All the donated food items are now at the Mount Prospect Food Pantry to help support community members in need of food assistance. THANK YOU to all our families who donated to this cause.

Lastly, our kind students organized bags to help make a birthday celebration special for an individual who participates in the WINGS program. We would like to thank our amazing PTO for sponsoring this service project.

We are so proud of ALL the kind children at Westbrook School!
