From our presidents:
The exciting change of fall is in the air and school is in session! We are humbled by the amazing response of our membership campaign and thankful for all the families standing up to advocate for their students – click here to join!
How do you PTA? There are many ways to help enrich your child’s education – be a member, donate time or support our fundraisers and programs. Ladies Night Out launches this week on Thursday night as a socially distanced event under the stars – get your tickets before they are sold out!
Parents are chopping, sizing and laying out outdoor classroom seating. Playgroups for new, international and LGBTQ families are in the works. Parenting classes are coming soon to help us all become resilient and parent better. Now, more than ever, our community is connecting creativity, virtual opportunities and the desire to add more to the already well-rounded education at RES!

PTA $5,000 Grant Supports ARTS and COVID-19 Relief
In June, the RES PTA was awarded a $5K grant for COVID-19 Relief from the National PTA, funded by TikTok. Schools of excellence were invited to submit ideas in four categories to meet community needs due to the extraordinary challenges created by the pandemic. Only 110 grants were awarded nationwide and only 2 in Connecticut!
Thanks to an incredible team led by Meredith Ferris – Katrinka DeLeon, Arts Teacher Mimi Weiss, School Psychologist Dr. Sammi Gureasko-Moore and Social Worker Kristin Martin – a three-fold expressive arts project is underway.
- Phase 1: Each student at RES will receive his own set of paints, markers, pastels, durable art bag and mini sketch pad, aka “Reflections Art Journal.” Approximately 200 kits are already distributed with more weekly as students enjoy ART Specials or remote learner distribution.
- Phase 2: RES has a heART Community Art Project (read more below)
- Phase 3: Students will create art, writing, expressive responses tailored appropriately by art in their “Reflections Art Journal.”
