Students - Earn community service hours when you help in the garden!

Get it touch with nature and feel a release of endorphins from working with the earth! Miss Allie has garden projects that everyone (students, parents, staff) is welcome to participate in. Keep an eye out for Miss Allie in our gardens at the above times so you can dig in and get growing with her!

Miss Allie, Garden Coordinator

“Miss Allie” will be growing our garden science program working closely with our teachers and is very excited to be a part of Mt. Everest Academy! She has a B.S. in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems from the University of California, Davis.

“I think the garden is such a special place. It shows us the importance of caring for our community and the earth and I believe we can learn a lot from being in the garden. I can’t wait to meet and get to know each and every individual of the school."

Drawing in the garden

Miss Allie taught the importance of taking care of ourselves like we do with the plants. After checking in with each student and their emotions, they learned ALL emotions are valid, and a way they can be expressed is through art. Pictured below are elementary students expressing their emotions through art and finding inspiration in the garden.

Succulent plant arrangements

Parents donated used flower pots, Miss Allie collected plant trimmings from neighbors, and students helped make the plant arrangements. Thus, a beautiful school fundraiser was born!

The teamwork of ants

Miss Allie used a big "blueberry" to have elementary students experience how ants cooperate with each other to accomplish tasks. Below they are delivering food to their queen, who lives in a dark environment.
