4th Quarter Flute Recital
By: Janie Xiong- Song: Country Gardens
Country Gardens
Country Gardens is an English folk song arranged by Karrick, Brant and Grainger, Percy and collected by Cecil Sharp. It was first made for the orchestra, then the piano. The tune and orchestra is a favourite with school orchestras
Cecil Sharp
Cecil James Sharp was born on 22 November 1859 and died on 23 June 1924. Sharp was born in Camberwell, Surrey, the eldest son of James Sharp. Sharp felt that English music had become over-dominated by German influences, and wanted to revive melodies with native roots.

Reflections
This project was very fun. I loved going on smart music and playing with the accompaniment on the piano. I kind of recognized the tune. It was fun learning about my song. It was a fun piece to play. There were many dynamic changes and the song is very lively.
