End of Year Reports
As you may already be aware, St Joseph’s Catholic School will not be posting home a paper copy of the traditional end of year report. Instead, comments will be posted on Hero in the last weeks of this term. The same as what occurred for our mid-year reporting.
In the last week you will have seen new Reading and Maths posts. Students are currently working on Writing stories which will be published later in the term. There will also be a Religious Education post in the last week of term.
The reporting will be based on progress the student has made, highlighting students strengths in Reading, Writing and Maths. There will be a general comment under the Key Competencies page in regards to your child’s overall learning and development.
No goals are set for your child at the end of the year. New goals will be set by their new teacher early in 2023. You will however be able to see goals that have recently been completed. The last goals will be checked off by teachers in Week 8.

ST JOSEPH'S COMMUNITY GROUP
Dear school community,
On Tuesday 22 November 2022 at 5pm, the first meeting of the St Joseph's Community Group will be held. Children are welcome. To be held in the school library.
This group is similar to the old PTFA. It is a place for parents and members of our school community to meet and assist the school and board with fund raising projects, school events and to help growth and strengthen our school community. It will be a place for parents to share their ideas to help our school prosper.
Whilst there will be some formal elements to the group, which we must do so in order to continue to receive our funding from the Waihi Beach Op Shop, the focus will be on a social and inclusive group, operating for the benefit of our students.
We have many wonderful and hard working volunteers in our school and we would like to see you all come to this meeting, so we can discuss ways we can assist the school in 2023, including helping the children meet fundraising schools for projects.
We look forward to seeing you.
Our Prayer Liturgy this week honoured the Saints in Heaven. There are many special saints…St Francis of Assisi, St Teresa of Calcutta, St Vincent de Paul, St Joseph to name a few. These saints can inspire us - none of them were perfect but all strived to do their best to follow Jesus in their own way. We can also take our own path to sainthood by being kind, working hard, thinking of others and being faithful to God….small steps, trying each day to be a better person so that one day we can join the saints in Heaven.
Our school value this week is “Being Honest by Doing Our Best.” Are we encouraging our children to be the best they can? Do we acknowledge their efforts when they are helpful at home, do schoolwork without being told and share with siblings?
Congratulations to our Great Athletes
Thank you Mrs Hughes for taking our students to the Waihi Athletics. All our students who participated did extremely well.
These great students below have now qualified for the North Cluster Athletics.
SUSHI on Friday
There will be Sushi this Friday.
Well done and thank you to everyone who has contributed towards Dinosaur Week - actually two weeks! This finishes tomorrow, Thursday, and prizes will be awarded next Tuesday. Remember you have to be in to win!
Nativity Play - our performance is beginning to take shape with everyone being involved. One request please- does anyone have an old blanket they would like to donate to the shepherds - they get very cold up on the hills at night and we need 3 blankets - no fancy fluro colours please - to keep them warm. If you are able to help us please leave in the library. We are most grateful.
God bless and regards

Prayer for the Week
November- Pope Francis' prayer intention.
In November, we pray with Pope Francis
For all children who suffer, those who are homeless, orphaned or victims of war; may they have access to education and the opportunity to experience family affection.
‘To see children suffer wounds our hearts because children are Jesus’ favorites. We can never accept that they are mistreated, that they are denied the right to live out their childhood peacefully and joyfully, that they are denied a future of hope’
– Pope Francis
Please watch the Pope's video below. May God Bless all children of the world.
