Eleanor and Park

Final Project

The main time that this book has been challenged was in 2011 in Minnesota. It was by a group of concerned parents. Librarians from the school that their kids go to had recommended the book then after the parents read it they were anything but happy. The book never did get censored because Rainbow Rowell thought that changing the book would ruin it. The parents didn't like the crude language and thought that some of the topics they talk about weren't right for their kids to read.

Why did Rainbow Rowell write the book?

Rowell wrote the book because she wanted to write something that wasn't your average love story. She wanted to talk about topics that actually mattered and not just the normal teenage angst that's in most young adult books. She wanted to talk about subjects that other authors or people might not want to talk about as much.

Should this book be banned?
