John B. Watson's Backgrond
Early Life
Watson grew up in South Carolina. He entered Furman University at the age 16. After 5 years he graduated with a masters degree, he started studying Psychology at the university of Chicago. He earned his Ph.D. of psychology in 1903.
Contribution to Psychology
John contributed the study of behaviorism. Behaviorism soon came to dominate the study of Psychology. Behaviorism soon lost its hold in 1950 many of its concepts are still used today.
Marriages and Children
John was married twice. His first wife was Mary Ikes. Whom he had two children with, Mary and John. Just like his Father he had many affairs. Eventually they divorced and John married one of his Grad students, Rosalie Rayner. John and Rosalie had two sons named James and William. His relationship with his children was horrible.
