2nd Grade ELAR

Week of October 25-28, 2021

Well we are one week into the second 9 weeks and we are rolling along. Remember this week is only 4 days long. We will not have school on Friday.


We kicked Red Ribbon week off with a great assembly on Friday and a wonderful parade. The day was beautiful for our students to walk around the school.

Important Dates to Know

Red Ribbon Week Activities:

Monday - wear red

Tuesday - wear neon bright colors and sunglasses

Wednesday - wear mismatched clothes, shoes and socks

Thursday - wear your favorite sports team shirt or jersey

Announcements & Reminders

  • Please send a water bottle to school with your student.

What We Are Doing This Week

Reading:

This week we will continue to include science with our reading. On Monday we will complete an activity showing the life cycle of the butterfly using a paper plate. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday we will look at the life cycle of the ant and compare it to the butterfly.

Thursday we will have some Halloween fun.


Phonics:

Lesson 31 - sight words

Lesson 32 - wild colt words

Lesson 33 - suffixes ed, ing, s

Lesson 34 - floss rule


Writing:

Students will start working on writing directions to tell the reader how to complete a task (How to Blow a Bubble)

Cursive - letters l and b


Grammar:

We will learn about prepositions (in, on, below, after, etc.)
