CX Debate Teams Head to STATE!

GHS continues the UIL Speech and Debate season with not one but two State Qualifying CX Debate Teams. GHS seniors Dalton Chancellor and Mark Chavez placed 1st at the district tournament and will advance to the UIL 4A Classification CX Debate State Meet. GHS juniors Dillon Edington and Matilin Rigsby will also join Chancellor/Chavez at the state meet, as they placed 2nd at the district meet. Stephens/Gomez placed 3rd in the district tournament.

This marks the 2nd year in a row that GHS has taken both state qualifying spots, deciding 1st and 2nd place by a simple coin flip, and for the first time the alternate spot as well! For more, click HERE.

T-Stem Designation

This year, GISD applied for and received a T-Stem designation from TEA. As GISD turns the focus towards STEAM, instruction has moved towards project-based learning, beginning with our lower level elementary students. The PBL prepares our students for the T-Stem designated 6-12 grade levels. Part of the first year of T-Stem designation includes a site visit to assess the launch of the program. On Friday, T-Stem student ambassadors from multiple campuses came together to share implementation experiences with the site reviewer. We are proud of our Leopard students! They rocked it!
