Seniors, don't miss out on the NC Countdown to College opportunity!
NC Countdown to College
October 19-30th is the NC Countdown to College. Seniors are encouraged to complete college applications, FAFSA and residency determination. Many NC colleges and universities waive their application fee during this week.
Here is the list of schools waiving their application fee.
Please visit studentaid.gov for information concerning financial aid.
Open Computer Lab with Ms. Blackmon
Ms. Blackmon will be in the computer lab on Wednesday, October 21st and Wednesday, October 28th from 1:00pm-3:00pm to help students complete their FAFSA or college applications.
Individual Google Meets with Ms. Blackmon
Parents and students, you are also invited to email Ms. Blackmon at bblackmon@randolph.k12.nc.us to schedule an individual Google Meet if you have any questions concerning FAFSA, residency determination or college applications.
Please continue to refer to your Senior Raven Notes emails from Ms. Blackmon for more information.
NC Governor's School Nominations
"The North Carolina Governor's School is a 5½-week summer residential program for gifted and talented high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses on each of two campuses. The curriculum focuses on the exploration of the most recent ideas and concepts in each discipline, and does not involve credit, tests, or grades."
Core academic areas are only open to current juniors, and arts areas are open to current sophomores and juniors. If this is something you might be interested in, please see Ms. Blackmon. She will provide you with the nomination packet and necessary paperwork.
Freshmen and sophomores, even though you are unable to apply this year for academic subject areas, please explore this opportunity for the future.
This is a great opportunity to enrich your learning, simply for the sake of learning. It is also a wonderful experience in preparation for college and a great resume builder.
Please visit the NC Governor's School website for more information.
