November 2020
Hello McClure Families,
We have completed 45 (as of 10/28) days of virtual school. We miss you and your students more than ever and we are so proud of your efforts to help your child succeed in virtual school. I just wanted to remind you that Wednesday is still a school day, so make sure that your student is logging on and completing assignments and the question of the day. Make November a great month!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lee
Principal
Meet Ms. Kim Kim LaMarche is the new K-2 autism teacher at McClure. She loves the outdoors and going swimming frequently in the summer. She enjoys helping students learn and grow at school. Her favorite subject to teach is communication with an emphasis in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) because it opens many possibilities for students. Check out her google classroom with many recorded videos of circle time, read alouds, and more! Individual schedules are posted with students google meet sessions and independent work. If you have questions, please email her at lamarche.kimberly@ysd7.org | Meet Ms. Hofmann Rebecca Hofmann is the resource room teacher. She loves to be with her family, husband and 4 kids or extended family, they always make her smile! She loves to read, usually when she is not at school or doing errands, she has a book in her hand. This year she is hoping to help students read better, do math better, write better and be friends with others. When students achieve or understand better it makes her feel happy. If you have questions, please email her at hofmann.rebecca@ysd7.org. | Meet Mrs. Jamison Lauren Jamison is the new 2nd-5th grade Autism teacher at McClure. Attendance Counts Online!
What does "good attendance" mean during distance learning? Check out the attendance ladder to see where your child's attendance fits. We can work together to improve or keep your child's attendance going strong. The key is building a regular routine—going to sleep and waking up at the same time each day, logging into the morning meeting every day, and setting aside time for Google Classroom activities. Please call our attendance clerk for your child's information at 573-1300. Or, call our counselors at 573-1352 if we can help.
How is my child counted PRESENT?
Your child is marked "present" if he or she logs onto Google Meet or Google Classroom and completes assignments each day. It's best to attend all Google Meets because the teachers can motivate, teach, and support your child. If your child misses a Meet, he/she can still learn throughout that day on Google Classroom with videos and independent work to complete ANYTIME. Please contact your child's teacher or our attendance clerk about absences so we can support you.
If you need to report an absence due to sickness, appointments, family emergencies, internet or laptop issues, please call the McClure Office at 509-573-1300 or email ochoa.jay@ysd7.org so we can excuse their absence.
