The Week of November 26th
A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BAME
Dear Laurel Park Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! As we venture into December, please take a moment to review a few important reminders and updates:
- Laurel Park has a staff based attendance committee that meets monthly to discuss students with a high number of absences, tardies, and/or early dismissals. Students who have multiple absences a month are more likely to fall behind and more likely to fall short of grade-level benchmarks. There is a similar impact when students regularly arrive late or leave early. Please help your children succeed by ensuring that they are at school, on time and for the entire day, any time that they are not sick.
- "Request For Excused Absence For Educational Reasons" forms are available on our website and in our front office. Based on district policy, family trips and vacations need to be educational in purpose in order to be excused. Our teachers work hard to plan engaging instruction. While they always try to catch students up when they have been absent, it is not possible to replicate the high-quality instruction that students missed. Please make sure that all requests are submitted with a full explanation of educational purpose PRIOR to the trip.
- On Friday, November 30th parents will be able to access the 2019-2020 Track Change Request form online under "Parent Resources". Track Change Request forms will be due on Friday, February 22nd.
