Many Hands, One Mason!

December 9, 2018

Dear Mason Families,

Special thanks to everyone who came out to Merry Morning at Mason this weekend! It was a wonderful time had by all. It was wonderful to see our community come together and spread holiday cheer. Special thanks to our wonderful PTO for creating this wonderful experience for all to enjoy. All your work behind the scenes doesn't go unnoticed.

Please consider bringing a new toy or book to Mason for our Children's Hospital Toy Drive that starts Monday. Students are also encouraged to make a Positive Vibes card for the children in the hospital that won't be able to make it home for the holidays. At Mason, we love to give our students opportunities to be Leaders, Learners and Kind; this is an opportunity for all our students to make a difference! Let's see how many toys, books and Positive Vibes cards we can collect from now until Dec. 19th! It would be awesome to have 100 percent participation when it comes to making cards for the youth in Children's Hospital! Thank for making a difference! Please click on the link below for more information and directions on how you can help!

Children's Hospital New Toy, Book and Card Drive

We raised almost 200 dollars for our Mason Community in need through our Hat Day this week! Thank you so very much for your generosity. Our next Spirit Day (Pajama Day) will be Dec. 21st! Great job, Everyone! Thank you Mrs. Collins, Mrs. Nurse and Student Council for leading the charge!

Thanks you for all your support and kindness,

Roy Bishop, Jr.

December PBIS Focus: Arrival and Departure

We are really striving to cut down on our tardies at Mason. Please be sure your child is doing their best to be on time and walk into the building by themselves. If your child comes in late, please make sure they check into the office so we can walk them to their classroom.

After school, students are reminded to find their family or walk home right after school for safety reasons. If you are playing on the playground after school, you must have a parent present at all times.

December Leader In Me Focus

Habit 4: Think Win-WIn

Think Win-Win is the belief that everyone can win. It’s not you or me, it’s both of us. It’s a belief that there are enough good things for everyone. It’s being able to be happy when good things happen to other people.

Seasonal greetings to you and your family. Next Wednesday December 12 is the date of our district-wide Strings Extravaganza concert in which your children will perform. The concert takes place at Grosse Pointe North High School in the Gymnasium. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your children to enjoy the entire strings program grades 5-12. Following are the particulars and expectations of your children.

Wednesday December 12, 2018

6:00: All fifth grade string students report to the cafeteria at North HIgh school with their own instruments, and wearing nice clothing (no gym shoes, please).

Parents should keep their child’s coat during the concert.

Instrument cases will be left in the cafeteria on one of the tables.

Bring instrument and bow, etc. to the gym, where instrument tuning and student seating will take place.

Fifth grade string students will remain in their seating section for the duration of the concert.

7:00: Concert begins, lasting for about 1 hour.

At the end of concert, fifth graders will return to the cafeteria to pack their instruments. Parents will collect their children in the cafeteria. Please leave nothing behind when you go home. I look forward to seeing you at this fun event!

Big picture

"The Power of Yet" Assembly

Mason School is excited that on December 21st, we will be having a special NED Mindset Mission assembly. NED will teach us to:

Never Give Up

Encourage Others

Do Your Best

And here’s the fun part! We will be selling special NED yo-yos before NED visits. An order form is going home with each Mason student. Look for the flier coming from your teacher. Order forms with payment (checks made payable to Mason School) can be turned in to the office from December 3-14.

Lily's 2nd Annual Snowpile Fundraiser - Toy Drive

We will be collecting new toys for students who will be at Children’s Hospital for the holidays. Please click the link below for more information.

Lily's 2nd Annual Snowpile

Brrrr.......It's getting cold outside!

Mason students go outdoors for recess every day throughout the school year, unless it's raining hard or the windchill is below zero degrees Fahrenheit. Please be sure that your child leaves for school dressed properly for the weather.

Please dress your child with a hat and gloves and a winter coat when the weather is frigid. We also ask that you write your child's name on his or her gloves, hats, boots and coat. Our Lost and Found fills up quickly!
