Southern Tier Summer Arts Institue

Open to all K-12 art teachers at no charge!

Join us July 13-15

Gather virtually with local art teachers to reflect, share, and discuss art education in the region. Instruction will focus on best practices, specifically with the shift to on-line learning due to COVID-19.

Our Agenda

Monday 9am-3pm* with Fred Herbst, CCC ceramics professor. This session will introduce participants to the Summer Arts Institute, and will include an opportunity to debrief and share on-line resources and challenges of the Spring 2020 shutdown. Participants will have a chance to share hands-on project ideas with an eye toward in-person instruction.

Tuesday 10am-3pm* with Olivia Khristan from the Corning Museum of Glass. In this session, participants will examine the artistic process through the lens of three specific museum tours. Discussion will focus on climate change, adornment, and current happenings in the art world.

Wednesday 9am-3pm* with Mary Mix from The Rockwell Museum. This workshop will be an interactive exploration of best practice for engaging students in art focused activities that can be done on-line or in the classroom.

*There will be a one hour lunch break each day.

There is no charge for this year's workshop!
