Weekly Updates - December 5, 2021
It was a busy week at Swansboro High School with many student successes to celebrate. Congratulations to our cheer team for their outstanding performance at the NCHSAA state competition yesterday. They placed 8th in their division. Congratulations to our basketball teams who are off to an amazing start to their season. They brought home wins against West Craven and South Lenoir. Our wrestling teams have also kicked off their season with outstanding performances at the Swiss Bear Tournament on Saturday and a win against Trask on Tuesday. Congratulations to JV 1st place winners: Ayden Goodmen, Estevan Sanchez, and Dathan Malubag. 2nd place winners included James Yesunas and Marcus Mason. In varsity, Isaac Gawronski and Theo Yager placed 1st, Klint Rhude placed 2nd and Jace Wilkens placed 3rd. The team placed 3rd overall. In winter track, McKenna Panos qualified for states in the pole vault. Finally, three senior athletes also signed college commitments to play at the next level. Congratulations to Emily Matthews, Taylor Cline and Alexis Mandel.
Our Foreign Language club took a field trip to Tyron Palace and our musicians have been busy preparing for their holiday concert series that kicks off this week. This week at Swansboro High will include senior spirit week and WorkKeys testing for seniors. Grade level assemblies will take place on Monday and basketball will host Havelock. Basketball will host Southwest and our winter chorus concert will be held on Tuesday and parents of track athletes should note that the track meet has been moved to Tuesday due to predicted weather on Wednesday. Swim will compete at New Bern on Wednesday and basketball will travel to Lejeune on Thursday. Thursday is also our orchestra concert and Friday is our guitar concert. Friday will also include a blood drive sponsored by our Robotics team. Wrestlers will compete in the Beast of the East at Croatan on Friday and Saturday and swim will compete at Washington on Saturday.

Mix-it Up Monday: Dress anyway you want but be sure it's school appropriate
Throwback Tuesday: Dress as your favorite childhood character
Way back Wednesday: Dress as a senior citizen
Toga Thursday: Dress in a toga and enjoy the senior breakfast
Future Career Friday: Dress as your future career choice

Parents should look for interim reports on Friday. This begins the final stretch of G3 and the fall semester. Students have just 15 instructional days before exams. Parents are encouraged to review grades and attendance on a weekly basis with students. In closing, thank you to our parents who have graciously volunteered to help spoil our staff these next two weeks to celebrate the holidays. We appreciate your outstanding support for our staff.
