Home Internet Security Winter Break

Winter break is just around the corner, and it’s a good time to review your home Internet security plan and discuss responsible tech use with your student. With a break from school, students will likely spend more unsupervised time using their iPad. If you’ve not already done so, using the iPad’s Screen Time feature to establish web content restrictions, such as limiting adult content, is a great place to start. See here for instructions on how to set up content restrictions using screen time.

COURSE SELECTION FOR 2023 - 2024

Counselors will be meeting with all freshmen, sophomores and junior students over the next month to finalize course selection for the 2023-2024 school year. During these conversations, counselors will be going through students’ course requests and taking any special requests for the 2023-2024 school year. While next year seems far off, please think about any scheduling requests you may have.

POST HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT PANEL

The BHS PTO is hosting its annual College Panel on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 7PM in the BHS auditorium.

All BHS students, along with their parents, are invited to learn more about college and post high school life and experiences from recent BHS alums. This is a candid and invaluable discussion!

YOUSCIENCE SURVEY

Earlier this year, we asked Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors to complete the YouScience aptitude and interest inventory. YouScience is a great tool for students to learn more about themselves, explore careers that are a good fit for them, and gain a better understanding of how their unique talents are needed in the world. Please ask your student if they have not completed the YouScience inventory and encourage them to do so if they have not.

Sharing with you a little winter cheer courtesy of our wonderful staff and BHS-TV students

See Something, Say Something

Barrington 220 is now partnering with an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues via a mobile app, text, email, or phone call. You will notice that the "See Something, Say Something" button on our district and school website now links directly to the Safe2Help contact page. We are asking that all students, parents, staff, and community members now use this platform to report safety concerns. In the case of an emergency, call 911.
