Free and Reduced Lunch Eligibility for Families Impacted by the Government Shutdown

When a household experiences a change in economic circumstances, the household may submit a meal application based on the change in circumstances. Furloughed employees or employees that are required to work without pay as a result of the federal government shutdown are considered to be experiencing a change in economic circumstances. Please remember that once eligibility is determined, that determination remains in effect for the remainder of the school year unless an updated application is submitted.

Dressing for Recess

Our students go to recess everyday, weather permitting, and winter weather is here. Please help us by dressing your child in warm clothing and jackets for the colder weather.

Lost and Found

Cold weather is here, and we have a lot of jackets (among other items) in the Lost and Found. If your child is missing his/her jacket, or lunchbox, please have them stop by the Lost and Found bin located in the corner of the cafeteria. Please make sure you label jackets, lunchboxes, and backpacks with your child's name so we can reunite lost items with their owners.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES families! Our next campus-wide Project Vinátta activity will be The Great Kindness Challenge! The Great Kindness Challenge is a global initiative that can help improve school climate and increase student engagement. Students will be given a list of acts of kindness they will be challenged to complete during the week of January 28--Feb. 1. The checklists will be given to all classes by the end of next week. The acts of kindness can be done at home and at school, so please encourage your child to complete as many as they can! Students can turn in completed checklists to their teachers, or me, as they finish them (on the honor system), and the last day to turn in completed checklists will be February 5. For each student that turns in a completed checklist with their name on it, I will be giving a Character Award along with a certificate for a free meal at Mighty Fine!

Studies show that kindness matters--not only does it improve our climate and communities, but this simple concept and character trait can enhance our minds and bodies, too. A study conducted by Dartmouth College showed that acts of kindness can improve peer relations, lowers anxiety, and can enhance concentration. I look forward to seeing and hearing about all the kind acts our students perform, and feel free to email me pictures of your child doing something kind!

Thank you! Amy Sexton (

Hola familias LVES!

¡Gracias! Amy Sexton (
